Stimulus’ Supply + Demand Slack Community is dedicated to the shared growth and empowerment of diverse leaders and experts in all industries. As we learn and develop our skills together, we can work towards creating an inclusive, eco-friendly, and highly connected community for business leaders, managers, suppliers, coaches, and experts alike. By using our Supply + Demand Slack Community, you agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct and Slack’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Updates to this Code of Conduct
Stimulus reserves the right to update this code of conduct at any time. When updates do occur, a message will be posted in the proper channels to notify users. All changes will be made for the betterment of the community and the conversations we engage in. If you have questions regarding any changes, please feel free to reach out to one of our admins: @raisanoelle @samanthahager
Expected Behavior
At Stimulus, we believe in our community’s ability to be professional and encouraging in every conversation and online event. However, sometimes, a bit of guidance is all it takes to ensure that great leaders know how our community is structured for success. As such, we encourage our community members to follow these core principles below when engaging in our channels to preserve the safety and comfort of everyone involved:
Be Intentional
We love to hear a positive story of success from our community! Highlight your work, share your wins, and let us know how you’ve accomplished greatness in your industry because we LOVE to hear it all! With that said, remember that not everyone will be at the same level in this community and that we are all here to help each other grow.
Be Empathetic
Engage in an empathetic and empowering manner always. Recognize that everyone makes mistakes and help guide your fellow community members to strengthen your network and never tear fellow leaders down.
Be Encouraging
Learn from others and share your own expertise. If someone asks a question you know the answer to, don’t hesitate to engage and encourage them to keep pushing forward. We’re all in this together, so let’s make the most out of it!
Be Engaging
While we’re not asking you to do a standup comedy routine per se, we encourage our community to try and share valuable and engaging content as often as possible. Whether it be articles you’ve written on business topics or funny stories you have from the start of your career that taught you valuable leadership lessons, we look forward to seeing what you bring to the Stimulus table!
Be Transparent
Nothing should be a secret in business. While outdated brands and leaders will tell you to never share your secrets for free, we disagree. The best way to grow as a community and embrace diversity and entrepreneurship is to share what we know and help others grow with us.
Be Feared AND Loved
Okay, that’s just a Michael Scott reference because, just as much as we love to talk business, we also enjoy a good laugh! Don’t be afraid to engage in our more personal channels and share funny stories, favorite books or shows, and jokes you may have heard in the office. We’re not here to grow just as business leaders but as people as well! Communication and connection are key!
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered to be unacceptable and will not be tolerated by any users in the Supply + Demand Slack community.
Threats of Violence
Threats of violence towards another user is not acceptable. This includes encouraging violence towards a user(s) or posting/threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (known as “Doxxing”).
Personal Attacks
Sometimes, people have differing opinions. However, that doesn’t mean personal attacks should come next. Attacking people for their opinions, personal beliefs, ideas, or suggestions is not acceptable. Please be professional and respectful at all times.
Impersonation of a Stimulus Admin or Leader
Any users impersonating an admin or leader in our channels will be banned from the Slack community. This is a zero tolerance rule. These impersonations can be harmful and cause confusion and frustration in the community so we most certainly take these situations very seriously.
Derogatory/Harmful Language and Harassment
Harmful language towards a user’s:
Background
Family
Gender Identity or Expression
Sexual Orientation
Race/Ethnicity
Age
Native Language
Abilities
National Origin
Location
Religion
Political affiliation
Company or Position in Company
Other Personal Attributes
is not acceptable. Those that engage in these forms of harassment will be banned from the channel and Stimulus events indefinitely.
Solicitation by Request Only
It’s important to ask users directly before offering your services unless the user has specifically requested this information. This also includes direct messages regarding employment opportunities or freelance projects. If you want to share your products, services, or job opportunities with the community, there is a special channel just for this and we strongly suggest you use it! To learn more, check out the #promotions channel in the Supply + Demand community.
Abuse of Voice/Video Calling
Slack allows the use of voice/video calling within its platform. It is unacceptable to abuse this feature by calling users directly without their permission. We understand that mistakes happen and buttons are clicked on accident. If this happens, be professional and simply send an apology message to the community member.
Channel and User Spamming
The Supply + Demand Slack Community has many channels tailored toward different topics and conversation starters. When posting your message, please use the appropriate channel for posting your message. It is unacceptable to simply copy/paste your message across multiple channels for added visibility. It is also unacceptable to post the same message or similar message frequently within the same channel and/or directly spam users.
Influencing of Unacceptable Behavior
It’s unacceptable to influence any user(s) in participating in any of the unacceptable behaviors listed above.
Voice/Video Calls + Screen Sharing
Slack provides the ability for users to use Voice/Video Calling with the added ability to have screen sharing. When using these features, be mindful and respectful of others. Use good judgement when sharing your screen and be mindful of other windows that may be open on your computer containing sensitive or personal information.
Spamming Webinar Chats/Interrupting Webinars
Part of our community are webinars that are shared with the members and include chat features. When attending these webinars, do not spam the comments or interrupt the conversations as this will ruin the experience for others and lead to you being unable to attend future webinars and/or being removed from the community.
Sharing Exclusives Outside of Slack Community
As a Supply + Demand Slack Community member, you will have access to exclusive content, guides, webinars, and other resources. While we allow you to share about the resources to encourage others to join, we ask that you do not share the actual exclusive content with others online as this will only damage the growth of our community and the exclusivity of these resources.
Slack “Apps” Usage
Slack has the ability to add Applications to workspace to help expand on the functionality of Slack. We do not allow users to install apps on their own to the community channels. If you have an app recommendation, either contact one of our admins (@raisanoelle @samanthahager) or share it in the Recommendations channel. All app installs to the workspace will be done by Stimulus and the admin team.
Keeping Topics Together (Threaded Messages)
One of the great features of Slack is the ability for threaded comments. To help conversations stay together and be easily searchable/scannable, we recommend using this feature. It helps keep the main channels clean and groups the topic of conversations into one place.
Gifs and Emojis
When using gifs inside the channels or threaded comments, please be mindful of the content/context inside the gif. Likewise, Slack offers the ability for emojis to express emotions in regards to comments. Please be mindful of the emojis you are using when communicating with others.
Use of Current Apps
Part of our Slack channels will be the use of different apps to enhance the community experience. While the apps will be available, we ask that you use these apps only when they are acceptable and valuable to the community. This means creating polls regarding business topics and not ‘what should I eat today?’
With these conduct guidelines, we hope that you have an exceptional and empowering experience in our community! We know we will!
See you in there,
The Stimulus Team
